LO4: Justifying The Creation Process Against The Original Production Concept Plans

The effects I used in my product turned out how I expected them to, my title scene matched up well with my planning document as, I used a hand written artsy font and added a jitter to my text like I planned in my story board to gain the viewers attention. However I did not use stop animation like I wanted in my product as seen in storyboard, I think it would have added allot of energy to my product and character, that I think is lacking in my final product. I think the transitions I used worked well and I used only smooth transitions and cuts this helped to reflect the calm theme of my storyline.

Offline edit

As you can see in my offline edit I had allot of footage to work with, as I spent time filming for about 2 hours.

Exporting with the h.264/Mp4 format on DaVinci is the most suitable for my intended purpose as a mocumentary as it has universal compatibility and I want to post this product on multiple platforms at high quality and efficient file size is useful to quickly export and download for when I share it to different platforms.

Justify the creation process

I have followed my original concept documents such as my story boards. I kept the subject matter mostly the same as in my sort boards, however I did change some settings and angles as I had to adapt my filming to the environment.

I have followed my risk assessment as I brought medical supplies to use as a response and I tied down equipment wires so that crew members wouldn't trip on set. I also avoided using large lights that could generate allot of heat and cause burns when touched.

To enhance my product with special effects I would experiment with blue screens so that I could place my character in more environments, so that the journey they are going on seams more intense and difficult to undertake, making it conform to adventure genre convention. I had this planned in a story board, but I didn't have time to execute this.

To enhance my product I would have also liked to use the special effect, stop animation. I had this planned in a story board but again I did not have enough time to execute this, I think this would have added allot more energy and action to my product making it conform to adventure genre conventions. I think it would have also denote my fantasy theme, as showing the pixie creature moving would have given it a more whimsical aesthetic.

To enhance my product if I had more time I would have also added more puppets so that my characters could interact more and I could explore the story and world build more, to make the product more engaging and immersive for the viewers entertainment.

I used DaVinci resolve in my opening scene for this scene I used the titles window and selected the jitter text, I then went into the inspector window and charged the speed of the jitter with the bar, I used the colour picker tool to match the colour of the blue bells in the fill text and outline text colour and I changed the font to a non-copywrite text from Dafont that I felt fit with the whimsical theme of my production. I then added a fade transition to the start of the clip.

For my credits I used DaVinci resolve and opened the titles window to selected a smooth fade in heading, I changed the font to Baskerville old face as I felt it fit the cozy aesthetic better than a modern bold text would, while still being clear. I used the X and Y axis bars to change the placement of the text so that it could be placed on the hill in the background, I did this as the dark green background will cause the most contrast with the white text making it easy for the viewer to read.

I opened the colour window and added a yellow colour filter to all of my clips individually by altering the white dot in the middle of the colour wheel tool, to make the hue of the clips above appear warmer, I added different levels to all the clips as some looked warmer that others and didn't need as much of the hue being added, I think this gave my clips cozier due to yellows connotations of sunshine and warmth.

I added in a colour filter transition from the transitions window in-between two clips, I used a colour filter in white to correlate with the previous clip as it was over exposed, I think using white transition to blur out and revile the picnic scene highlights that this is the final goal for my character as white is often used to symbolise opportunity and optimism.

I used a cross dissolve transition from the transitions window in-between two clips to seamlessly fluidly transition two clips together that I felt were to long, I didn't want to use a cut transition as I felt it looked to harsh. I think the effect of fading these clips together created a dreamlike atmosphere, this linked to my theme of phantasy.
